Take control of your everyday digital safety
Start with the account that matters most. Make one useful change, understand its limits, and keep a workable way back if something goes wrong.
Independent guidance for ordinary devices and real-life routines. No setting makes you invulnerable.

Start with your most important account
Your main email often unlocks other accounts. Banking, work access and cloud storage may be equally urgent. Prioritize the account whose loss would cause the most disruption—not the app you use most often.
Check the recovery chain
Which inbox receives reset links? Is its recovery number current? Protect those dependencies before changing everything else.
Make sign-in harder to steal
Use unique credentials and a stronger second step
Choose a reputable password manager, replace reused passwords, and enable passkeys or two-factor authentication where available. Save recovery information before you sign out.
Spot the pressure tactic
Pause when a message demands immediate action
Unexpected urgency, secrecy or a new payment destination deserves an independent check. Open the service yourself instead of using the message’s link.
Reduce what your browser shares
Review permissions, tracking and extensions
Remove access you no longer need. Private browsing changes what stays on your device, but does not make your activity invisible to websites or network operators.
Send files with care
Match access to the actual recipient
Share only the information needed. Prefer named recipients to public links, check permissions, and remove access when the task ends. A downloaded copy may remain outside your control.
Prepare for lockout
Use this personal checklist to identify your next action. Checked boxes record your own review, not a device scan or proof of security. Do not enter passwords, codes or account details.
